Low Pressure Carburizing

A case hardening process that uses low pressure and elevated temperatures in a vacuum furnace. This process uses hydrocarbon gasses to obtain a hardened surface layer of tempered martensite and a tough core. This treatment increases the wear resistance and fatigue life of components. It produces a very clean surface, thus eliminating further post cleaning of the part after heat treatment.
